My long-term target on the SP500 is $1893.20; the ETF SPY is $189.32. It took us 4 years and 4 months to get from $435.00 to $1464.40 (October 2002 – February 18, 2007). It may take another 3 or 4 years to get to $1893.20 (where I believe the current valuation of the market is worth!), which takes a lot of number crunching.
Of course, the value can move up as earnings continue to grow, although they have been growing slower this year; yet still great after a long 3 year long-term uptrend, (but the long-term uptrend will be longer than the 3 year down-trend from 2000). The rallying has not even started yet; and the SP500 still has a lot of room to go. Mid-term targets are $1600.60, or $160.06 (the SPY ETF), which is above the ALL TIME HIGH of 155.75. Maybe the 2nd week of next month we will be there (which is about 3/5-4 weeks). There are also some good fundamentals and earnings coming out next week, but the investors with foresight that can understand these thing are take that opportunity now.
